Duracut XNT
Case Study
As part of a worldwide project, a high profile, automotive OEM undertook a continuous improvement scheme looking specifically at tool and wheel life, and surface finish on their gearing section manufacturing line.
BACKGROUND
Historically, they had been using a Major Oils company’s grade and over the past 10 years, they had experienced the following issues causing them to seek technical help:
Inconsistency with performance on grinding and honing
Issues with fires on certain applications
Reduction in performance following long production runs
Issues with operator approval and usage such as skin irritation, handling of components and usability on certain machines.
Teklube TS Ltd was approached to work alongside their Projects and Production Engineering team to identify a possible route to improvement. With 30+ years' experience of formulating state of the art neat oils alongside the Specialist Application Team, Teklube TS created Duracut XNT to specifically meet their specification demands.
The key benefits of the grade are:
Dramatically increased wheel life (Please see Table)
Improved Thermal stability
Improved operator environment through removal of traditional additives
Improved environmental impact on disposal of traditional fluids
Increased production during the change over period of tooling and wheels
Increased profitability of the specific manufacturing process.
Average number of components per tool change
